RACING REVIEW - ROYAL ASCOT SPECIAL

Holly White looks back at what was an exceptional five-days of racing at the 2025 Royal Ascot and highlights some of the biggest and brightest moments. It was a week to remember at Royal Ascot, as a mixture of familiar favourites and outsiders took to the course and rode to victory.

The Queen Alexandra stakes closed off a memorable week yesterday, with favourite Sober taking the win under Ryan Moore and Willie Mullins.

And Sober was one of seven winners under Moore across the week, an impressive performance from the experienced jockey.

Trawlerman was crowned Ascot Gold Cup champion under William Buick, going one better than his second placed finish last year, and also setting a new track record.

25/1 winner Time for Sandals shocked in the Commonwealth Cup, with the favourite Shadow of Light only managing to finish fifth.

Richard Kingscote’s surprise ride out sparked jubilation for trainer Harry Eustace, who celebrated a top-level Group One double- which included Tuesday’s Queen Anne Stakes winner Docklands.

Buick also continued his impressive form with a Hardwicke Stakes victory on Rebel’s Romance.

Ending a three year drought at Ascot, the Godolphin homebred won convincingly with the 1 and 3/4 length lead.

A week of surprises and celebration, Ascot shaped up to be another box office event; as is always the case every year. written by Holly White
