The Cambridgeshire takes centre stage this Saturday but it’s paired with three group races all from ‘Flat HQ’. We preview all six live ITV races this Saturday.

A Group 2 contest to kick start Saturday’s ITV action and there’s plenty with chances.
Daytona, Humidity and Pacific Avenue have already tried and failed to deliver in group race company and it’s likely they’ll find a few too good once again.
At the top of the racecard we have another Ballydoyle runner in the form of Action who did well to win last time out but might be undone by the firmer ground.
We then have the unbeaten duo of Ancient Egypt and Bow Echo with preference for the latter who can build upon their recent listed victory and looks to be capable at this level.
BOW ECHO (WIN)

If you’re on the hunt for some each way value then former course and distance winner King Of Light and Tees Spirit look viable options to finish in the mix and I couldn’t put punters off backing either of the pair to go close however it’s last years race winner that gets the nod.
Blue Storm is only carrying 1lb more than when successful here last year. There’s a concern that she might not be at her fittest having taken 11 months on the sidelines. He returned with a fair enough effort performance but it’s likely that we’d just a ‘pipe opener’ for this contest. Now with the cobwebs dusted off he should be raring to go as he aims to retain his race success.
BLUE STORM (WIN)

Without the assistance of Ryan Moore this time around America Queen isn’t likely to reverse the form that saw her finish second behind Royal Fixation and it looks likely they’ll finish in that order once again. They’re the best of the U.K. contingent but it seems as if the Irish invasion is set to spoil the party. True Love was reported to have been a touch lame last time out and it she’s fit and issue free here she’ll be able to atone for her recent disappointment.
TRUE LOVE (WIN)

Based on the horse with the most accomplished form you’d feel relatively confident backing Wise Approach however it’s fair enough to say he’s always found a few too good when competing in group company. This looks a weaker race than the one he finished a close third last time out but he might be worth taking on.
It’s not often you see unraced horses thrown into group level on their debut but clearly trainer Joseph O’Brien felt comfortable enough to do so with The Publican’s Son. He produced somewhat of a shock to fill the runners up spot and clearly he’s capable at this level. Showed signs of immaturity that day and he’s likely to have learnt a lot for his sole performance. If the improvement comes he could be a serious threat to the market leader and should make the frame.
THE PUBLICAN’S SON (E/W)

Midnight Gun hasn’t been seen since producing a credible performance to finish less than 3 lengths behind the winner in the Lincoln back in March. That is by far the best recent form on offer and a repeat of that effort should see him return to the winners enclosure. There’s an obvious worry about the time he’s had off but if he can overcome that obstacle he looks the one to beat.
The biggest threats come in the form of First Ambition, Fonda Blanco and El Matador with the unbeaten Karl Burke runner seemingly the major danger.
MIDNIGHT GUN (WIN)
15:40 NEWMARKET
The big race of the day is the prestigious Cambridgeshire. The field isn’t as packed as we see in most years but it’s just as difficult to decipher.
With so many runners still left in the contest I’m going to pinpoint a trio who look worthy of a wager.
The first two seem obvious with both Fifth Column and Real Gain looking primed for this race and perhaps had it in mind as a seasonal target. It’s hard to ignore the pair and both should give you a solid run for your money.
For those looking for one at much bigger odds than the Dylan Cunha trained Silver Sword could fair a lot better than the betting market might have you believe. A credible sixth placed effort when last seen over this course and distance he now resides just a couple of pounds above his last winning mark. If the ground continues to dry out before the off then his chances will only increase. With a more than capable jockey doing the steering he could spring a shock.
FIFTH COLUMN (E/W)
REAL GAIN (E/W)
SILVER SWORD (E/W)
