TV TIPS (SATURDAY)

Live ITV action comes from Carlisle, Beverley and Chester this Saturday and we’ve previewed every live race right here.

13:30 CARLISLE

Despite the thirteen runner field and the current short price it’s hard to look elsewhere but the William Haggas trained Opportunity who produced an eye-catching return to action when third at Newmarket. Now with a run under his belt he should strip fitter and find further improvement. Clearly the one to beat and holds a serious claim.

The nearest threat and for punters looking for an each way alternative then the William Buick ridden Topteam looks set to go well after a better performance to fill the runners up spot and a similar effort should see the four-year-old go close once more.

OPPORTUNITY (WIN)

13:45 BEVERLEY

Based on last years form Urban Glimpse should have this wrapped up easily but his seasonal return was far from inspiring! That said he can be excused one poor run and is taken to return to the winners enclosure in what looks a weak contest.

Sir William and Mafting aren’t completely out of the equation but they need to show a little more to give the selection cause for concern.

URBAN GLIMPSE (WIN)

14:00 CARLISLE

A cavalry charge awaits in the second race at Carlisle with a current field of 15 set to go to post. In such a sizeable field we’ve opted for two selections, the first of which is the ultra consistent Wild Clary who’s placed in the top four in his last eight starts and although only one of those outings produced a success he deserves a shot in this better race.

A horse that’s dropping in grade after finishing 4th in a Class 2 contest is the relatively lightly raced Marty Hopkirk. Trainer David Loughnane has his horses going well of late and although this four-year-old needs further improvement he’s shown enough in his short career to date to suggest he could outrun his odds.

Elsewhere Grant Wood and Recency Bias look major players.

14:15 BEVERLEY

Despite the lack of racecourse experience there’s plenty of talk within racing circles surrounding debutant Cosmic Mystery who impressed in the breeze ups before becoming a significantly expensive purchase for Wathnan Racing. There’s obviously questions to answer and she’ll need to prove a he’s not all hype but there tends not to be smoke without fire and a chance is taken on Archie Watson’s charge making a winning start to her career.

Last time out victor Kodi Bear Light won well when last scene and should be on the scene once more and for punters seeking each way value Crystal Queen could sneak into a place.

COSMIC MYSTERY (WIN)

14:33 CARLISLE

Despite their recent successes Azure Angel and Redorange might be worth opposing in this open looking listed contest. Of the aforementioned duo Redorange looks to pose the biggest threat but a chance is taken on Ed Walker’s Celandine who already has Group 2 victory to her name and should be able to show more now that she’s dusted off the cobwebs with her seasonal return. If all eight remain in the field she’s a viable each way alternative.

CELANDINE (E/W)

14:48 BEVERLEY

A course and distance win could be the telling factor for Matteo to remain unbeaten and the way in which he came out on top here on debut was impressive enough. This is undoubtedly a harder assignment but one he showed he could play a major part in.

Fellow unbeaten contender Arapaho Gold has plenty of promise and both The Dancing Pirate and Ronson shouldn’t be discounted too readily.

MATTEO (WIN)

15:10 CARLISLE

Not seen since filling the runners-up spot in a Group 1 at Ascot it’s safe to say this is a step down in the level of opposition for Estrange. She had a stellar season in 2025 and if she’s fit and reproduces the form that saw her excel last year she’ll be hard to pass.

With the advantage of a recent run Azaniya and Coedana look the most likely to follow the favourite home.

ESTRANGE (WIN)

15:30 CHESTER

The way in which Roman Dragon added another course success to his tally here last time was impressive enough to suggest he could claim back to back victories and although the level of opposition is markedly higher he’s got enough in his favour to grab at least a place.

Supido has obvious credentials having also won his most recent outing and Archie Watson’s Element Of Fire seems best of the rest.

ROMAN DRAGON (E/W)

15:45 CARLISLE

The three-year-olds take centre stage in this competitive looking handicap but despite the large field the current pair vying for favouritism look the ones to beat and for good reason. The pair of Princling and Langstone have done very little wrong in their short careers so far and have improved with each of their respective runs to date. Both hailing from powerhouse stables it’s difficult to find anything to take on the duo and as such a bold move to opt to see them fill both the first and second positions is where we’re tentatively putting our money.

Fellow last time out winners Crest Of Fire and Laureate Crown look capable of making the frame and at bigger odds Daydreama and Sponsor could do far better than the bookies might have punters believe.
