TODAY’S TIPS (THURSDAY)

Alan Morris tips Thursday runners from Ripon and Worcester as he hunts down winners to land the spoils.

Jet Warrior should win this easily, 5lb well-in after a good 6f win at Ayr last week and odds-on backers may have little trouble collecting on the lightly-raced 4yo gelding. My only nagging doubt to avoid lumping on is that ultimately 7f might suit better and he pulled away late on from behind a strong pace last time. He was running on over Southwell’s 7f previous to that and initially campaigned over further and Ripon’s undulations may not play to his strengths. An each-way chance is taken on Barmyblade who is a two-time course and distance winner. It may pay to disregard his last effort, racing prominently over 5f on good to soft and Tim Easterby’s charge looked to be running into form before that.

Playful Fox has looked lucky to avoid rising in the handicap in unseating late on and a second place in his last two races and a step up in trip for Dan Skelton’s 4yo gelding should see him home in first here. There are dangers in Mancero and particularly in Scottish Dancer, the revitalised 7yo has been running well for his new yard on the flat off 74 over 2m so the 2m 4f trip off a hurdles rating of 94 could suit very well. He has Irish hurdling form off this mark and distance. Tsavo Park is one to keep an eye on too.
