Windsor
The Course
Left-handed and distinctive in configuration, Windsor returned to jumps racing during the 2024/25 season after an absence stretching back to 1998. Racing initially took place on a continuous oval circuit, but for the 2025/26 campaign the course reverted to its traditional figure-of-eight layout.
The revised configuration has required the development of new sections of racing surface alongside improvements to the drainage system. With the figure-of-eight bringing additional turns and changes of direction into play, Windsor provides a notably different test from the oval circuit used during its first season back over jumps.
Given the limited amount of recent racing over the new layout, firm conclusions regarding tactical advantages, jumping difficulty and the types of horses best suited to the course are yet to emerge. The jumps programme is concentrated during the winter, including fixtures on New Year’s Day and during the Berkshire Winter Million. As more races are staged, the characteristics of Windsor’s revived jumping track should become clearer.
