RACE DAY INTERNATIONAL - BELMONT STAKES

Toby Darby looks ahead to Saturday evening's card from Saratoga with the Belmont Stakes taking center stage. 00:04 SARATOGA We have the 3rd leg of the American Triple Crown and the return of the Kentucky Derby Winner Golden Tempo, as well as the 2nd & 4th that day. 

Golden Tempo was a good winner on the day but when you look back at all the scrimmaging in behind it is clear that there were hard luck stories. Renegade was slammed out of the gates and put him in a compromised position throughout but that did not stop him from powering home for 2nd, he can be hugely marked up and that is why he comes in as the ML favourite.

However, I think the run of Chief Wallabee is being overlooked, he lost momentum in the home straight when sandwiched between two horses but that didn’t stop him passing horses and staying on into 4th, he has a habit of bumping into one, but I think today is his day.

CHIEF WALLABEE (WIN)

As a side note, Crude Velocity and Englishman gave us one of the best clashes I’ve ever seen last time, they renew rivalries in Race 10. Followed by the Met Mile which see’s Nysos face off with Journalism, it really is an "all-timer" card at Saratoga tonight.
