The ever competitive Perth Gold Cup has attracted the interest of Gordon Elliott, who has Riaan with a good chance today. Off the back of a nice performance at Cheltenham and a good second at Punchestown. He’s a big danger. Young Buster has a good record over fences and won well at Kelso. He is capable of going even better today. Statuario won this race last year and has a nice weight for this attempt. He was a nice second, over course and distance, on his last start which could put him bob on for this.

STATUARIO (WIN)

16:45 GOODWOOD

A nice little contest with the old boy Hamish heading the contenders. He’ll be hard to beat given he has dined at much higher tables than these. But, if there is any rust, he could be opposable. Military Academy has been gelded and if you can forgive his no-show in Bahrain, could kickstart his season here. Palladium is a former German Derby winner and connections have abandoned his experiment over hurdles and he’s now with the Gosdens. Connections still retain the faith and if the class is there, he can get his career back on track.
