14:20 GALWAY
A big field handicap hurdle as has been the case across the Galway Festival this week, Garnacho is the early favourite, up 16lbs for his win last month, but it’s easy to see why given the ease of his 12 length victory. Similarly Chance Another One won by 11 lengths and has since been put up 20lbs! However, it’s the trainer that catches my eye, Emmet Mullins, one of the shrewdest around, there would be no surprise were another 20lbs to be found in the future. He also saddles Arctic Gale, favourite here a few days ago, finished 3rd but this is a quick turnaround and he looked tired at the finish so I can look past his chances.
CHANCE ANOTHER ONE (WIN)
16:00 GALWAY
I’ve had my eye on Dunum for this race all week, but did not expect him to pick up a penalty on his way here. He loves it at Galway and won a similar race over an extra furlong earlier in the week, with conditions to suit and over his preferred 7f a Galway double is highly likely. Apiarist travels over for Kevin Ryan and is a big threat, he travelled well in the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot at that form has taken plenty of boosts since. He is a solid performer and won’t be turning up here to make up the numbers. At a bigger price, Go Athletico returned to form two weeks ago, a previous group performer that had tumbled down the weights. He won well over 6f, he has tried 7f but I think it stretches him and he will be wanting late on.
