With the National Hunt season now kicking off Katie Gibson looks through our wardrobes and gives them an autumn update with a refresh to remember. Just as the trees shed their leaves in Autumn, perhaps now is the time for you to discard some items from your own wardrobe. As the old saying goes, ‘out with the old and in with the new’...after all we do have a whole season of jump racing ahead of us to dress up for! From top to toe, we have selected the most exciting new items out there.
Perhaps more one for the ‘point to pointers’ out there, this cashmere beanie comes not only with warmth but a beautiful backstory. Created by Callie Coles in memory of her horse, ‘Warrior’, who died suddenly. The colours on the hat symbolise a chaffinch who appeared in the field next to where Warrior died and who then stayed with them for a year. The hat is currently sold out online but we’re keeping our fingers and toes crossed that more are available soon. If you don’t already, follow Callie on Instagram to be the first to know.
I don’t mean to alarm you but Gen Z have officially taken the Barbour and made it ‘cool’ - not that it ever wasn’t but you know what I mean. I now see hordes of tik tok videos full of people clad in pristine Barbours or indeed the infamous ‘Zara’ dupe which is doing the rounds. Which means that us country folk are on trend, although I imagine these tik tok girls do not have an assortment of old race cards, tissues and dog treats in their pockets. If you don’t already have a Barbour or you fancy an upgrade then look no further than their new range in collaboration with Farm Rio. The collar on this waxed jacket is just devine. Another coat that caught my eye was a rather fetching green men’s mackintosh that Frankie Foster wore whilst in Paris for the Prix de I’Arc de Triomphe. I love the bottle green colour and the shape. It reminds me of an old fashioned huntsman coat. However, the fact that the price tag is in euros is probably a good thing but if anyone can find a cheaper, similar one - do let me know!
