Viyanni ran an excellent race for third in behind current Triumph Hurdle favourite Lulamba at Ascot last month and is pencilled in for a possible re-match with that rival next month so should be capable of picking up a victory here on his way. Mister Cessna found Grade 2 company too hot to handle on debut for Fergal O’Brien but had shown some promise when trained in France so could do better here now pitched in to calmer waters, while Kotgar ran well enough for second over course and distance when last seen and could also get involved with further improvement likely.

Fil D’or drops back in class having raced well in recent months, however for me carrying top weight and stepping up in trip makes him vulnerable especially when considering how quiet the Gordon Elliott stable has been for winners in recent weeks. Affordable Fury won in heavy ground on chase debut but will have to overcome a long absence if he is to add to that here, so preference is for Sa Majeste who won’t mind conditions and promises to be suited by the step back up in trip having been badly outpaced over shorter in the Grade 1 Faugheen Novice Chase when last seen. The fact he gets weight from all is an added bonus.
