Sam King previews Friday’s action with selections from Haydock and Ascot.

Legacy Link has some ground to make up on Lyrics Of Life from their Newmarket (July) meeting but there’s plenty of reason to believe she can turn the tables. Trained by John and Thady Gosden, this well-bred Frankel filly was giving away experience and missed the break when finishing behind at Lyrics Of Life. Like most from that stable, it’s likely she’ll derive great benefit from her initial outing, while this galloping mile at Haydock should be right up her street with Colin Keane doing the steering. Lyrics Of Life remains the main threat, but she might not have the scope to improve as much as the former, who wasn’t given a hard time either on debut.

15:30 ASCOT
Watcha Snoop went straight into the tracker when a promising runner-up at Newmarket (July) on debut and ought to have what it takes to go one better here. A son of Coulsty, he picked up well from off the pace first time out, doing all his best work late on to grab the second spot behind a well-regarded Charlie Appleby colt in the shape of Words Of Truth. The booking of Oisin Murphy catches the eye here and with Hugo Palmer amongst the winners of late, he’s taken to land the prize at the chief expense of Thaluna and Hvar.
