A promising fourth behind the Epsom Derby-bound Al Wasl Storm at Chester on his debut, Pole Star found himself being denied a head at Newmarket just eight days later. The booking of William Buick catches the eye and with the switch to this more conventional galloping track expected to suit, he could prove tough to peg back. The nicely-bred Valiancy could prove the chief threat after showing some ability when seventh first time out for Wathnan Racing at Newbury a fortnight ago.
