TODAYS TIPS (FRIDAY)

14:25 CHEPSTOW

Pomme Pomme took her record to two from two in handicap company with a fairly facile success over nine furlongs at Wolverhampton a week ago. A ready winner over this mile and a quarter distance at Bath prior, Jack Channon’s thriving three-year-old daughter of Coulsty will clearly have no problems stepping back up in trip, while the 6lb penalty she carries for her latest triumph is virtually completely negated by Rose Dawes’ 5lb claim. Sol Argent scored nicely in first-time blinkers at Brighton earlier in the month and looks like the biggest danger, especially with the powerful Richard Hannon team in good order.

POMME POMME (WIN) 18:05 HAYDOCK

Pole Star looks ready to strike at the third time of asking for Charlie Johnston at Haydock. A promising fourth behind the Epsom Derby-bound Al Wasl Storm at Chester on his debut, Pole Star found himself being denied a head at Newmarket just eight days later. The booking of William Buick catches the eye and with the switch to this more conventional galloping track expected to suit, he could prove tough to peg back. The nicely-bred Valiancy could prove the chief threat after showing some ability when seventh first time out for Wathnan Racing at Newbury a fortnight ago.
