TODAYS TIPS (THURSDAY)

Alan Morris tackles Thursday’s racing from Chelmsford and Newbury as he picks out his best bets of the day.

14.20 CHELMSFORD

Demetrius' 7f Beverley entry does give a hint that the 2yo colt will improve for a step up in trip but he won well enough over Catterick's sharp 6f to give enough confidence here and the 2nd ran well yesterday. Trainer and jockey will be alert to using stall 1 to ensure they don't get too far behind with a visor to help. One of the three-raced Handicap debutants will undoubtedly show improved form and Too Hot To Love looks the most likely. Demetrius is set to go up 6lb anyway so running here with a 6lb penalty is another positive sign.

DEMETRIUS (WIN)

19.00 NEWBURY

The well-bred Golden Redemption started his career in December as a 2yo in Meydan and after a couple of disappointments has made a trainer and country switch on am attractive Mark to be on an upward arc again. His recent 6f maiden win seemed to confirm 7f suits better and with good course and distance form can nab this average class 4 race.

The Hare Rail and Mythical Composer are credible each-way alternatives but may not have the potential of Golden Redemption here.

GOLDEN REDEMPTION (WIN)
