Alan Morris heads to Market Rasen for his best bets this Thursday.

Pescatorius sets a poser here as after a long and frustrating avoision of the winner’s enclosure he has been finding his feet for new trainer Olly Murphy and won last time in a small field over 3m 2f on good to firm. Up 7lb to only 88 for beating a subsequent dual winner it seems churlish to oppose him but he was given an easy time up front and these are different conditions. Against some exposed and win-shy horses an each-way chance is taken on the unexposed Mr Mahler, up in trip and gradually improving over fences. Some bookmakers are paying out on three places making his early price look attractive.

A competitive Mares’ Handicap Hurdle with some lightly-raced last time out winners who could improve further in White Noise and Just Her Type. The likeable Lady Babs may need this. A chance at longer odds is taken on La Marquise as she was well thought of and highly tried after her wins in a bumper and novice hurdle and should improve for the drop in trip here with added cheekpieces, 115 might underestimate her potential.
