Lunar Power has had to settle for second on both runs since switching back to turf, beaten a short head at Thirsk before a similar gap between himself and the winner over course and distance at the beginning of the month. Upped just 1lbs and with Paul Mulrennan continuing in the saddle, compensation awaits.

It’s been two years since Bashful Boy last visited the winners enclosure but he wasn’t beaten far despite finishing third of four over two miles at Newbury on penultimate run and has dropped to an attractive mark so warrants plenty of respect now also dropped in grade.

Simple Star has scored three times around Musselburgh however came home last of eight in last years’ renewal of this race and seems better suited to shorter trips when racing on the flat so looks best watched today.
