BEST OF THE REST (SATURDAY)

Rory Paddock looks at Saturday evening's all-weather action and previews five races from Newcastle and Wolverhampton. 17:45 WOLVERHAMPTON

Spartan Arrow returns to handicap company after competing in group races for most of 2025. Despite being burdened with top weight he should have too much for his opposition after winning a Group 3 last time out.

Rhythm N Hooves looks the most likely danger.

SPARTAN ARROW (WIN)

18:30 NEWCASTLE

Counting Cards went close on their handicap debut when filling the runners up spot at Southwell. The horse should have learnt plenty from that run and should strip fitter this time around. A drop in distance should also be an advantage.

For punters looking for a possible each way alternative should keep a close eye on Brazilian Rose who ticks plenty of boxes.

COUNTING CARDS (WIN)

19:00 NEWCASTLE

Asadjumeirah has placed in three of his last five races, all of which came over this track and trip. If he was anywhere near his best he’d dominate this contest but another placed effort is far from unlikely.

Fellow course and distance winners Fircombe Hall and Yorkshire Glory should also be on any punters shortlist.

ASADJUMEIRAH (E/W)

19:45 WOLVERHAMPTON

Harbour Vision is a former course and distance winner who now resides off an appealing weight. A fair fourth when last seen should stand the horse in good stead especially now dropped in grade.

Dandy Khan has won their last three starts and is the obvious threat.

HARBOUR VISION (E/W)

20:15 WOLVERHAMPTON

Despite being a twelve race maiden Moonlight Bomb finished third when last seen here at Wolverhampton. A step up in trip should suit and he’s got an eye catching jockey booking to boot.

At bigger odds Mr Nugget looks to have enough in the locker to also make the frame.

MOONLIGHT BOMB (WIN)
