BEST OF THE REST (SATURDAY)

Rory Paddock turns his attention away from the ITV action this Saturday and pinpoints a trio of runners worth following. 16:15 CURRAGH

Inventress makes her handicap debut for Paddy Twomey and commands respect, though with an absence of nearly 300 days, she may just need the run and fitness has to be taken on trust.

Former course-and-distance winner Titanium ran a solid race when sixth over track and trip last time and, with a 2lb pull in the weights, looks capable of getting much closer.

Preference, however, is for the Adrian McGuinness-trained Annie’s Angel. While she hasn’t been seen on the Flat for some time, her recent jumping exploits should ensure she is fully fit. Racing off an attractive mark, this consistent mare looks a solid each-way option.

16:28 KEMPTON

Godolphin’s unbeaten course-and-distance winner King’s Trail has attracted strong market support and is likely to start a short-priced favourite. However, at bigger odds, fellow unbeaten runner Sin City makes more appeal as an each-way alternative.

He showed signs of greenness when scoring on debut but still produced a determined performance, and with natural improvement expected, he could pose a serious challenge to the favourite.

Conclave is another unbeaten contender who also merits consideration.

17:00 SOUTHWELL

Paul Midgley’s Herakles finished a respectable fourth over course and distance last time and returns to Southwell in a lower grade. With a more favourable draw and Paul Mulrennan retaining the ride, he looks well placed to go even closer.

Former course-and-distance winners Popular Dream and Irish Dancer both have solid claims, though wider draws could make things more difficult. If they're able to overcome those positions, they should provide the main threat to the selection.
