There's an action-packed day of racing in South Africa with plenty of Group 1 races on Champions Finale Day. Pundit Dean Kilbryde previews every race right here. 10:15 TURFFONTEIN
Without Remorse has raced seven times all-told, however is yet to visit the winners’ enclosure. That said, of those that have prior experience his form looks stronger than the others and his best race to date came when second here at Turffontein on penultimate run so he looks a solid option in the opener with Richard Fourie taking over in the saddle.
WITHOUT REMORSE (WIN)
10:50 TURFFONTEIN
Stormact ran on four fourth over the minimum trip at Vaal at the beginning of the month and promises to be suited by the step up in trip so gets the vote over Tigers Captain who has been consistent and ran well in defeat in recent races but has to give 6lbs to our selection so may have to settle for place money again.
STORMACT (WIN)
11:25 TURFFONTEIN
Gimme Some Luck impressed when beating a subsequent winner by eight lengths on debut at Vaal last month and although this is a much tougher he could be up to the challenge. The Bronx Bull wasn’t beaten far when last seen and is still open to improvement, yet at the price preference is for Time Is Precious who is unbeaten in two in 2026 and could prove strong enough to make that three despite having to give weight away here.
TIME IS PRECIOUS (E/W)
12:00 TURFFONTEIN
Plenty in with chances here, none moreso than early favourite Good Day Sunshine who arrives here unbeaten in two, both victories coming here at Turffontein. The Vercingetorix filly won a Grade 2 last time out, finishing around a length ahead of the re-opposing Get Up and is taken to confirm that form despite a 4lbs weight difference this time around. Lanzarote has been steadily progressive, winning well last time out, and looks a solid each way option for anyone looking further afield than the market principals.
GOOD DAY SUNSHINE (WIN)
12:35 TURFFONTEIN
Shoot The Rapids won by almost ten lengths when last seen here at Turffontein last November however has to give weight all round and preference is for Enflame who has won three of his last four at the course, winning a Listed race by five lengths from the re-opposing Aladdin’s Lamp when last seen in early April. He’s already beaten a couple of these over shorter trips and should still be capable of further improvement now upped to two miles.
ENFLAME (WIN)
13:15 TURFFONTEIN
Olivia’s Way hasn’t won since winning the 2025 renewal of this race, yet has been holding her form extremely well since, making the frame in five from eight, and ran really well for third in a Grade 1 against the boys last time out. A reproduction of that run would likely be good enough to see her return to the winners’ enclosure here. Callmegetrix rarely runs a bad race but has stamina concerns over this trip so Charge It may be one to follow for each way purposes.
OLIVIA’S WAY (WIN)
13:50 TURFFONTEIN
Choisaanada arrives here on a hat-trick and will likely prove a warm order for many, yet Atticus Finch is a prior Grade 1 winner over track and trip and caught the eye when fourth again over course and distance last time out, finishing one behind Olivia’s Way who could frank the form in the race before this. A similar run here would see him go close, although stablemate Fire Attack could also have a say in proceedings despite giving weight.
ATTICUS FINCH (WIN)
14:25 TURFFONTEIN
A short price but very difficult to go against Buffalo Storm Cody who has won five from seven over track and trip, has won nine from eleven since the beginning of 2025 and is unbeaten in two with Richard Fourie in the saddle. William Robertson was a shade disappointing last time out but has made the frame in eight from nine over course and distance and has got within a length of the favourite here before so looks an each way alternative.
BUFFALO STORM CODY (WIN)
15:05 TURFFONTEIN
Green Diamond is clear favourite here and is unbeaten in three with Craig Zackey in the saddle, so it’s really interesting to see him back on board here. She may well prove good enough for the win but at a bigger price I’m opting for One Fine Winter who hadn’t finished outside the top two here at Turffontein before her disappointing run when last seen in February. Having had a short break and with in-form jockey Keagan De Melo doing the steering I’m hoping for a return to form today.
ONE FINE WINTER (E/W)
15:40 TURFFONTEIN
Bright and Brazen has won her last two, both here at Turffontein, yet both came over six furlongs and she’s also come close over a furlong further so may struggle dropping back to five here. Vanakkam is a prior course and distance winner who ran very well for second here three weeks ago. A reproduction of that run could see her go one better today, getting the verdict over the in-form Alpine Jet.
VANAKKAM (WIN)
16:15 TURFFONTEIN
Fire Storm and Kambati both arrive here having won well last time out and both need considering, the former already proven over a mile and capable on good and soft ground while the latter having won three in a row over seven furlongs here at Turffontein and now stepping up in trip. Tough to split them, but with the promise of further improvement now upped in trip, its Kambati who gets the vote in the finale. Prince Of Kildare doesn’t win very often but is more than capable if everything drops right and is one to consider at an each way price.
KAMBATI (WIN)
