RACE DAY INTERNATIONAL - MEYDAN

Rory Paddock takes a look at the action from Meydan with a whole host of group races to delve into he previews the best racing on the card. 14:05 MEYDAN

Commissioner King finished a close second in a better race last time out and the form of that contest could be franked later on the card. This looks a weaker affair and with fewer runners is the one to beat.

COMMISSIONER KING (WIN)

14:40 MEYDAN

Marbaan and Mysterious Night filled the top two spots in this race last year and renew their rivalry in the same contest. The pair look likely to go close once again but the form should be reversed especially with Mysterious Night carrying a more favourable weight this time around. Marbaan should finish in the mix but it's the Godolphin runner who gets the nod.

MYSTERIOUS NIGHT (WIN)

15:50 MEYDAN

Cover Up's form here on the turf at Meydan looks ultra-consistent with two wins and two places from four starts here. Partnered by William Buick on every occasion thee partnership can add to their course tally once more.

At bigger odds Ponntos could be worth following for punters hunting down an each-way alternative. The eight-year-old finished second in this race last year and despite some poor recent form if he were near his best could do far better than his current odds may suggest.

COVER UP (WIN)

16:25 MEYDAN

Imperial Emperor returned from a sizable absence to claim victory here last month. Shouldn't be put off by a step up in trip and will strip fitter for his latest effort. Finished as runner-up in this race last year and can go one better,

Fellow course and distance winners Walk Of Stars and Heart Of Honor look the most likely dangers and the consistent Artorius can also make the frame.

IMPERIAL EMPEROR (WIN)

17:00 MEYDAN

The Godolphin duo of Nations Pride and Opera Ballo look head and shoulders above the rest and with the pair also claiming previous course and distance wins we already know they'll relish the conditions. Although it wouldn't be a major shock for their recent form to be reversed it's hard not to feel William Buick has picked the right one to ride.

OPERA BALLO (WIN)

18:10 MEYDAN

Meydaan finally returned to the winners enclosure for the first time in a long while when claiming a competitive handicap over course and distance earlier this month. Should improve on that effort and although this is a tougher test looks an unexposed type who could demonstrate further improvement.

For each-way punters Sunway cannot be ignored. Has competed with credit at the highest level and this race looks likely to suit.

MEYDAAN (WIN)

SUNWAY (E/W)
