Group 1 action comes from Deauville in France this Sunday and our international racing expert Toby Darby previews the Pirx Jean Prat. 15:25 DEAUVILLE
With Precise beaten in the Falmouth Stakes on Friday it somewhat eases my enthusiasm for True Love, although I do expect this drop back to 7f to be in her favour I’m not sure she will be able to beat the Boys.
Rayif missed out on a clash of the Guineas winners in the St James Palace at Royal Ascot after a temperature but should be fully wound up here for France’s best trainer. Nighttime finished down the field in the Poulains and despite a Group 2 win last time I can’t see him turning the tables on Rayif.
I think the Jersey form is a bit suspect at this moment in time which would put me off Thesecretadversary, although he clearly is a horse that enjoys this intermediate 7f trip.
In all, I think Rayif is the horse to beat, and with True Love in the contest it’s likely he won’t even be favourite which makes him a fair bet.
