THE HOTLIST

After Glorious Goodwood and the Galway Festival there's been plenty of top-class action this past week and as always Alan Morris adds to his hot list as he pinpoints two recent runners you need to keep an eye on. NOVELETTE (S and E Crisford)

Novelette ran promisingly in nice maidens after a very expensive breeze-up purchase but has really found her form held up under Hollie Doyle, winning a novice at Yarmouth and a similar story in a Sandown nursery.  She should have  plenty of scope from her attractive handicapping mark to win again. Having learnt to settle better the 2yo filly won over 5f at Sandown giving hope 6f should be within scope.

UNTHINKABLE (P Kirby)

It seemed Unthinkable when I happily took 7-1 that the 3yo filly would then drift to 16-1  and still win well, it almost felt like a loser! It wasn’t a bad handicap for the grade and she might still be able to sneak in to a 0-50 classified if the handicapper doesn’t over-react. Regardless she has ran two good races as a 3yo for new connections up in trip, settling better and having dropped considerably in the handicap since her 2yo days. Unthinkable finished 2nd front-running round the stiffer Beverley track previously and it may have helped fly-jumping the start at Musselburgh and having to sit handily in 3rd place before hitting the front late on in her victory this week. It looked comfortable enough but 7f looks to be the limit of her stamina and sharp turning tracks may also suit better. CURRENT HOTLIST:
