THE IRISH INSIDER

Toby Darby gives his best two bets of the day in another stacked afternoon of Irish action.

14:40 CURRAGH

Composing is unbeaten since being stepped up to 7 furlongs, winning a Group 2 comfortably last time out when beating the reopposing Suzie Songs. However, the British raider Venetian Sun beat the boys last time out in the Group 1 Prix Morny. She steps up in distance here but finished strongly at the line. Her form is the best in this race, and I expect her to win. Sadly, with only 7 runners, each-way options are slim against the top two, but Suzie Songs could well be the best of the remainder.

VENETIAN SUN (WIN)

15:15 CURRAGH

Onto the second Group 1 of the day, and Asfoora heads the market after her emphatic win in the Nunthorpe. She won’t want the ground too soft, but she is a class act on her day and can stay on strongly to win. Bucanero Fuerte could pose the biggest threat to Asfoora, he has been solid since returning from an unsuccessful spell at stud, but this represents a step up in class. At a bigger price, She’s Quality could bounce back after a lacklustre effort last time. She had been ultra-consistent before that, with four consecutive silver medals in Group races.

ASFOORA (WIN)
