Shrimp Shady has been given time to recover from his belated seasonal debut but the 3yo colt was ultimately beaten a long way by an easy winner and it’s hard to quantify what he achieved. He has an interesting entry in the Old Rowley Handicap back here in October and we may see the real Shrimp Shady but he may also give value initially for those of us still behind Secret Beach. Ben Brookhouse’s 4yo appears to retain handicapping scope to go in again.

SECRET BEACH (WIN) 19:00 NEWCASTLE

Double course and distance winner Kameel ran well enough on stable debut for Jessica Macey when not seeing out the mile again two runs ago. We can forgive another run over the mile at Southwell and should be good value back over 7f here. Miakoda had a wide draw last time and can be accepted as still in form but will be a warm order in an open race.
