The progressive filly Ashariba has been struggling to find a bit of give this Spring and this two-time all-weather winner understandably takes in this weakish Class 2 handicap en route to bigger turf targets like the John Smith’s Cup if conditions allow. There was enough promise in his Epsom comeback on a track that may not have suited and the yard had a welcome winner on Tuesday. Of the bevy of C and D winners Wadacre Gomez has been the most consistent recently as Penzance and Royal Approval need to bounce back. Market support for Romieu up in trip should be noted.

ASHARIBA (WIN)

18.05 NEWCASTLE

Coramento won impressively over C and D in March and has confirmed that promise on turf recently with a close 2nd at Musselburgh. His stablemate Martin’s Brig like it here too as does seven-time C and D winner Pop Favourite who looks a solid each-way play in the early markets but the lightly-raced Coramento gets the win vote to improve out of this grade.
