TODAYS TIPS (TUESDAY)

Sam King heads to the North East as both of his best bets of the day come from Tuesday's card at Newcastle. 16:15 NEWCASTLE

It’s no surprise to see horses take a sizeable step forward when they enter nurseries these days, which is exactly what happened when The Tunguska Event routed his rivals three and a quarter lengths earlier in the month. Trained by John and Sean Quinn, he showed plenty of early pace before drawing clear in fine style over this same course and distance, leaving the impression that a follow-up success could be on the cards. A 9lb hike by the handicapper will demand more, but he’s unexposed and can see off the likes of Yorkshire Queen and Mereside Princess to go in again.

THE TUNGUSKA EVENT (WIN)

17:15 NEWCASTLE

Talented apprentice Jack Callan is off for a spell Down Under shortly but it looks significant that he’s sticking around to ride over the restricted riders week, where boss George Boughey will surely make plenty of use of him. The pair team up with Unassuming here. A daughter of Lope De Vega, she has progressed nicely this season, winning three of her last five starts, including when successful at Wolverhampton last time. She’s up to a career high mark of 88 but is three from eight on the all-weather and capable of following up. The main dangers could prove to be Benacre and King’s Lynn. UNASSUMING (WIN)
