TODAYS TIPS (TUESDAY)

Sam King gives his best two bets of the day this Tuesday.

11:30 LINGFIELD

John and Sean Quinn are capable of having debut winners and when they do, it’s not unusual that they tend to be useful types. That certainly looked to be the case when Master Of Shanghai made a successful start at Pontefract. Always towards the fore, he picked up well in the final furlong to snugly deny a better-fancied rival, while the form is by no means poor given the third horse Starmade, who is now rated 81, has gone on to score since. He has to defy a penalty here but can prove equal to the task, with perhaps Nebbia the most likely danger.

MASTER OF SHANGHAI (WIN)

14:45 LINGFIELD

Charlie Wallis hasn’t got many horses and as a result, hasn’t had many runners of late. That said, he’s more than capable of getting one to score on the all-weather and the seven-time winner Shalaa Asker was knocking on the door in October. He was denied a neck over the minimum trip at Chelmsford when last seen and from a good draw in gate two, he might well prove capable of going one spot better off a 2lb higher mark. Roman Spring has also been in good form of late and could be the main threat.

SHALAA ASKER (WIN)
