TV TIPS (FRIDAY)

The Racing Daily team previews day three of York's Ebor Festival as they cover all the races shown live on ITV. 13:50 YORK Top-weight Mount Atlas looks to hold a clear and obvious choice and with the yard picking up a winner on day one of the meeting it's clear the stable are in solid form. The only issue is the weight the horse is now carrying. He'll have to produce a career best performance to win off this mark and that could be enough to see him find one or two too good.

Of the Irish raiders This Songisforyou and Zanndabad might outrun their odds but with a mixed bag of form in the book they're hard to catch right.

An each-way alternative looks to be Dylan Cunha's Asgard's Captain. Finished 5th of 20 in his only previous course start and although he doesn't look a sure fire winner could sneak into the frame.

ASGARD'S CAPTAIN (E/W)

(Rory Paddock) 14:25 YORK Sweet William is consistent in these races, and he should be thereabouts yet again. Trawlerman is evidently the one to beat. Imperious in the Ascot Gold Cup and a penalty shouldn’t stop him, neither should the drop in distance. Al Nayyir nearly won this race last year and his second at Sandown puts him on for this. Defeating Trawlerman could be a big ask but he could be best of the rest.

AL NAYYIR (E/W) (Kieran McHugh) 15:00 YORK This isn’t the most inspiring bunch of 2yos with no Irish entries to add interest or complications.

The five-race maiden Do Or Do Not is clear on ratings and hasn’t done a lot wrong despite those figures but the colt was meant to improve for the step up to 7f last time and looks vulnerable as favourite.

Progressive alternatives ready to advance beyond the favourite are not plentiful with Egoli and Reciprocated needing to bounce back from disappointing runs. It’s more plausible that Reciprocated could show himself to be a pure sprinter and taking a keen hold over Ascot’s 7f was a step too far. He is a full brother to 6f horse Radio Goo Goo.

Lifeplan was strong in the market on debut against three previous winners, pitched in to a novice and should not be underestimated.

RECIPROCATED (WIN) (Alan Morris) 15:35 YORK

JM Jungle has raced over course and distance on nine occasions and has made the frame in eight, with his sole course win coming at this meeting last year. He arrives here on the back of a career best victory in the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes at Goodwood a little over three weeks ago and with his exemplary course form is greatly respected.

Arizona Blaze is another who arrives at the top of his game, following a neck second in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup over six furlongs at Royal Ascot with a commanding Group 2 victory at The Curragh last month, staying on strongly to win by a couple of lengths over the re-opposing Mgheera. He should confirm that form and is another who needs considering.

At the foot of the weights, the two-year-old filly Lady Iman is unbeaten in three over the minimum trip and impressed when winning the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes when last seen. With the promise of more to come she just about edges the vote.

LADY IMAN (WIN) (Dean Kilbryde) 16:10 YORK The John and Thady Gosden-trained Cape Flora created a big impression when winning at Leicester last time out, but she might prove vulnerable off this revised mark and with that in mind, Zgharta is preferred. She looked somewhat an unlucky loser when fifth in a recent handicap over a mile at Glorious Goodwood. Having been slowly away, she did well to get herself into contention with a couple of furlongs to travel before finding her passage repeatedly blocked. A winner on her sole outing over this trip at Newmarket earlier in the season, Andrew Balding’s daughter of Ghaiyyath should relish stepping back up in distance and she can make amends off this unchanged rating.

ZGHARTA (WIN) (Sam King)
