Kieran McHugh previews all four live races from the opening day of Newmarket's July Meeting. 13:50 NEWMARKET
Scandinavia was staying on well in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot and you can never discount the dream team of O’Brien and Moore. Further was second in that race and was prominent throughout, he’ll be looking to get the jump on Scandinavia again. A chance could be taken on Nightime Dancer. He was third in the Derby Trial and then probably got going a little late in the main event itself, finishing eighth. That result probably doesn’t do him justice and he can come on for that.
NIGHTIME DANCER (WIN)

A tricky event. Maximized beat subsequent Windsor Castle Stakes winner Havana Hurricane at Epsom and he could certainly improve for that. The form of Brussels’ debut victory has worked out well and again, you can’t discount O’Brien/Moore. However, Do Or Do Not is the only horse in this field yet to taste victory. He was unlucky when only just beaten at York and he ran into Gstaad in the Coventry. He was best of his side and if he can perform to that level today, he could get off the mark.
DO OR DO NOT (WIN)

Hucklesbrook is chasing a hat-trick and if the rise from his victory at York isn’t too steep, he’s in the equations. Double Rush was third that day and possibly could’ve done better. He’s another on the shortlist. Invictus Gold has won here twice, in good style last time out as well. He was third here to Double Rush in April, beaten a length. He’s better off on the weights this time and who’s to say he won’t make it three?
INVICTUS GOLD (WIN)
15:35 NEWMARKET
Ghostwriter is the clearest candidate. Maybe fluffed his lines at Royal Ascot but he has been racing in Grade One company. El Cordobes was pretty good when last seen here and if he can produce that form, he’s in with a shout. Palladium wasn’t far away at Goodwood and maybe just got a caught a little flat footed in the last furlong at Ascot. He was only a length back on Ghostwriter and if it clicks today, he could turn the tables with him.
