TV TIPS (THURSDAY)

The two-year-olds take a good chunk of the limelight on the opening day of Doncaster's St Leger meeting, with three of the five live races featuring the youngsters as we preview every race shown live on ITV this Thursday.

13:15 DONCASTER

A third-place finish behind the impressive Sun Goddess at York looks among the strongest pieces of form on offer, and that gives Speed Of Sound obvious claims on her handicap debut.

Richard Spencer's filly should find this a slightly easier assignment and, with the potential for further improvement now entering handicap company, she looks the one to beat.

Stablemate and fellow handicap newcomer Sexy Chick is respected, while Karl Burke's Kodi Bear Light is another who could have a say if taking a step forward.

SPEED OF SOUND (WIN)

13:50 DONCASTER

Market leader Night In Vegas holds an obvious chance, but with 17 runners set to go to post this looks considerably more competitive than the opener and there could be better value further down the betting.

Satellite Of Love attracted plenty of support before finishing a respectable fifth of 20 on his latest start. This may prove a slightly easier assignment and, at the prices, he looks too generously priced to ignore.

Mithaaly got off the mark when last seen and will need to improve again now stepping up in grade, but he represents powerful connections and the booking of William Buick certainly catches the eye. There should be more to come from him.

Irish raider Seven Nation Army is another who merits serious consideration in a wide-open contest.

MITHAALY (E/W) SATELLITE OF LOVE (E/W)

14:25 DONCASTER

Handicap newcomers Knights Charge and Besieged have done little wrong in their three starts to date and both look capable of making their presence felt. Of that pair, the Shane Foley-ridden contender makes slightly more appeal, but there is enough depth to the race to look elsewhere for the selection.

Bourbon Blues is particularly interesting with Ryan Moore taking over in the saddle. He has gone close on several occasions this season, although a career record of just one victory raises enough doubts about his resolution in a finish.

Preference instead goes to Runman, who returned to winning ways when stepped up to a mile and a quarter last time. If that longer trip has helped unlock further improvement, John and Thady Gosden's runner should remain competitive from his revised mark and looks to hold solid each-way claims.

RUNMAN (E/W)

15:00 DONCASTER

Waardah may be without a victory in 2026, but she has gone close in two Group contests and a repeat of either performance would put her firmly in the picture here.

Owen Burrows' charge has already shown she possesses the ability required at this level and, provided she runs to her best, she looks capable of getting back to winning ways.

Prizeland and Danielle are obvious dangers and should both be involved, while those searching for one at a much bigger price could consider Nyra. She may not be prolific, but her consistency gives her place claims if any of the principals fail to fire.

WAARDAH (WIN)

15:35 DONCASTER

An unbeaten Godolphin runner heading the market will always command plenty of respect and Musical Times could easily maintain her perfect record. However, the form of her latest victory does not look particularly strong and, at the likely prices, there are reasons to take her on.

Ballyskeagh arguably brings stronger form to the table after finishing runner-up in Group company at the Curragh on her latest appearance. That effort sets a good standard and a similar performance should put Joseph O'Brien's filly right in contention.

Sea Of Rain finished ahead of Ballyskeagh on that occasion and fully deserves her place in this company. However, with six starts already under her belt, she is more exposed than several of these and there is every chance Ballyskeagh can reverse the placings.

The one that makes most appeal at the prices is Beguiled. She was an emphatic winner at Newmarket last month and shaped as though the step up in trip would bring about further improvement. This is undoubtedly a tougher assignment, but she remains lightly raced and the move up to a mile could unlock another step forward.

That makes her an appealing each-way alternative to the market leaders.
