Kieran McHugh rounds off the week with his best bets from Pontefract this Sunday.
15:05 PONTEFRACT
Coedana is effective on all types of ground and her third placed finish to Estrange, last time out, reads pretty well. She does have to prove that she can get back into the winner’s enclosure. Orionis was impressive when winning a handicap at Goodwood and Tom Marquand is booked. There is every chance she is good, but she must improve on the ratings. Revoir is entitled to come on for her second last time out, having come off a break. She has good form and Ralph Beckett has won this race for the last two years. She can make it three.
REVOIR (WIN)
15:35 PONTEFRACT
Secret Force has been going well since switching to his new yard and he will certainly stay this extended distance. He might need more to land this today. Trojan Soldier has won his last three and is used to running over these distances. He is a massive danger and even a next rise in the weights might not be enough to stop him. That said, the vote goes for the less exposed Treasure Island. He won at Ripon over two miles and was not penalised much for that. He has run creditably since and receives weight off Trojan Soldier. Tim Easterby has a good record around here and he has a good chance of landing the Pontefract Cup.
