Every week Racing Daily's very own top judge Chris Connolly picks out his weekly eye-catchers and adds them to his 'Hotlist'
ANNSAM - E. Williams Despite usually requiring a run to straighten him up, Annsam attracted fairly strong market support on his return to action at Ascot on Saturday and though he could only finish 4th of 5 runners, he certainly caught the eye. Now aged 10, he was extremely patiently ridden and was almost allowed to coast home rounding the final bend after a rather indifferent round of jumping. Usually at his best when dictating the pace, Evan Williams' charge is now 2lbs lower than his last winning mark and looks set to strike.
Advice - Bet the next two times on going with soft in the description at trips of around 3m.
SANTORINI STAR - W. Haggas
Lingfield's Winter Oaks (Handicap) wouldn't usually be my idea of fun and though Santorini Star was, on the face of it, fairly disappointing in finishing 5th, she certainly showed enough promise to persist with. Very lightly raced for a four year old, perhaps William Haggas has found her rather hard to keep sweet, whatever, she showed a pleasing attitude to rattle home after getting outpaced and she looks certain to improve.
Advice - Bet next time out on the All Weather, 1m2f seems fine though 1m4f certainly looks within her reach.
