Alan Morris gives his weekly take on the recent racing action and pinpoints two runners from the past seven days he thinks punters should keep an eye on. CUBAN STORM (M Dodds)

The 4yo gelding Cuban Storm looks ready to strike soon after a couple of more promising runs lately and a drop in the handicap and grade. He hit the front on Monday at Ayr over 6f only to be beaten very late on as the hold-up horses pounced. The relatively unexposed 5f winner can win over either sprint distance and Michael Dods should find an opportunity soon. Unico also suffered from contesting the pace and was an unusual long-distance traveller for Chris Gordon and should also be looked out for to repay the confidence the yard must have had. Finally in the same race it’s possible late closer Summerstorms Dream was flattered running on late but could be a typical Jim Goldie slow-burner to keep an eye on!

LEFT OVER LOVE (R Hannon)

The 3yo filly Left Over Love has run well in all four starts and showed promise after a five-month break before fading late on at Catterick, tracking the leaders after initially dwelling. She has raced prominently and keenly to date and a sharp 7f or even 6f looks ideal at this stage but she has plenty of time to progress and add to her 7f Southwell win earlier in the year. Her maiden form looks quite strong in hindsight and she should bear closer inspection next time out. CURRENT HOTLIST:
