THE HOTLIST

After an action-packed week at Glorious Goodwood, Alan Morris picks out two recent runners you cannot ignore going forward.

WID (R BECKETT)

Wid ran well at Glorious Goodwood in finishing fourth in a 3yo fillies handicap on only her fourth run despite a poor draw. She had raced prominently prior to making all in her novice win but was understandably dropped in from a wide draw at Goodwood. From last she made a dart at the cutaway to ensure a smooth passage and hit the front but that effort paid late on as the action took place down the middle and she was isolated on the rails. There is scope to stay further on breeding but there was plenty of pace on show here over a mile. She was running off only 80 and a low weight against some good types and can progress further.

MARENGO STORM (R HUGHES)

Marengo Storm had been progressing nicely prior to a respectable run at Goodwood but seemed ill at ease in the final stages, rolling around the idiosyncratic track and not responding well to a strong drive. 6 and 7f looks fine and after only five runs a mark of 84 here looks exploitable and can get back on track soon.
