THE HOTLIST

This week's Hotlist is a tad different as Alan Morris pinpoints not two but three runners who all ran in the same race this past week. The 15.10  Novice stakes at Southwell on the 16th of August had two promising runners pulling well clear with Al Jolson running well on debut, giving Prosperity a real fright.

At a lower level it will be interesting to see how three lightly-raced horses in behind will get on when handicapped and perform at the right grade.

ELITE APPROACH (J RAMSDEN)

Elite Approach has had two fair runs, over 100 days apart and ran well for a long way from a wide draw. Understandably the 3yo gelding tired late on but with question marks whether this mile would suit on breeding it will be interesting to see what his third run brings and whether 7f might be better.

ELECTRIC GAMBLER (J and A O'NEILL)

As befits the trainers and breeding Electric Gambler looks in need of further and will be brought along steadily. It's possible he may be hurdling before fully maturing and able to exploit a low flat handicap mark on return. The sire Galiway is a strong influence for stamina with a good jumps record and there is some confirmation from his dam and half-brother that further will help.

PEACEFUL SPIRIT (L MULLANEY)

Peaceful Spirit has had a sporadic and light career to date but could go on from this reasonable run from a low handicap mark.

The 4yo filly had one race at 2 and one at 3 for Karl Burke before a 2000gns purchase and move to Lawrence Mullaney. She showed pace here and stuck around long enough to show something to work on if she can finally put some races together. 7f might be the distance at this moment.
