THE HOTLIST

Alan Morris returns with a look back at recent racing action as he picks out a pair worth pursuing. BLACK DAKOTA (D HITCHINS)

Black Dakota should be able to get a handicap rating after his second UK hurdle run for the under-rated Daisy Hitchins yard and exploit this over further and probably fences.

He had solid point-to-point form in Ireland with a win, two seconds and two very late falls when in contention. Understandably he jumped big at Newton Abbot and was held up cold before running on late into 4th, with the jockey declaring interference on the home bend. The 7yo is a half-brother to two winning three-milers and a trip over fences with cut should suit him in time.

SILVER SOVEREIGN (C COX)

The 2yo filly Silver Sovereign exploited a favourable handicap mark at Newbury over 7f and after travelling well she quickened nicely to put the race to bed. Even if hit with a 6lb rise her new mark would look surmountable on the back of a promising second and first on her two previous races. Hopefully she will be kept to handicap company and be seen again this autumn to coin it in for us. 7f looks ideal for now but 1m looks an option in time. CURRENT HOTLIST:
