Big Gossey was unfortunate last time out in a Group 2 over this course and distance. He travelled strongly throughout but was forced to switch when full of running, ultimately unable to get up in time. He reopposes several rivals he had behind that day, and with a clearer passage, he looks poised to reverse the placings.
The main threat could be My Mate Alfie, who endured a tough trip from a poor draw and was left exposed without cover for much of the race. Vespertilio comes in better at the weights, but I suspect she’s more effective over a slightly longer trip. In contrast, this test looks tailor made for Big Gossey, who thrives under these conditions.

You can put a line through Green Impact’s sixth-place finish in the Guineas – he didn’t appear to handle the track and has always looked likely to improve over further, having won over a mile at two. He didn’t need to be at his best to score last time, but he’ll have to find more here.
Lambourn was an impressive Derby winner and will be dangerous if allowed to dictate from the front again, but he’s priced accordingly and offers little value.
At a much bigger price, Sir Dinadan is interesting. He has a mountain to climb on paper, but the form of Amiloc has worked out well, suggesting he might outrun his odds if he finds improvement.
