Darkness was only beaten a length at Nottingham earlier this month and is due to go up 3lbs for that effort so looks to be a danger, while Venetian Lion has won his last three on turf and wasn’t disgraced when only beaten a length on the AW at Kempton last time out so is another to consider for a stable and jockey who have won two of the last three renewals of this race, yet with the ground expected to be heavy it’s hard to look past Maximising who won on soft at Windsor in August and followed up with a solid third on heavy round at Hamilton when last seen, only beaten a half-length.
