TV TIPS (SATURDAY)

A tough day for punters this Saturday, with plenty of competitive races hitting the ITV screens, yet we cover each contest and give our best bets. 13:25 NEWBURY

Mount Atlas and Tabletalk renew their rivalry after being separated by just a head when last seen, with the Andrew Balding-trained Mount Atlas narrowly coming out on top off level weights.

The pair should be closely matched once again, although Tabletalk is now 3lbs better off and could be capable of reversing that form.

However, Dubai Honour returns from his exploits down under and brings a touch of class to this six-runner contest. William Haggas' runner looks a level above his rivals on his best form and should prove difficult to beat.

Harry Charlton has his string in excellent form and the lightly raced Hypnotised could provide the yard with further success.

The three-year-old finished a close second in weaker company last time, but that was his first appearance since being gelded and further improvement looks likely. With relatively few miles on the clock, he remains open to plenty of progress and makes each-way appeal.

Kinswoman looks an obvious threat, while the consistent Glamorous Breeze and last-time-out winner Wheels Of Fire also deserve respect.

HYPNOTISED (E/W)

14:10 NEWMARKET

Archduke Ferdinand landed this contest 12 months ago and arrives in good order following a recent victory, so another bold showing would come as no surprise.

However, in such an open contest, preference is for First Folio, who finished fourth in this race last season and returns from a considerably more attractive handicap mark.

Julie Camacho's eight-year-old hasn't tasted success for some time, but that losing run has resulted in a much more favourable rating. Representing the Owners Group, he looks capable of improving on last year's effort and makes plenty of each-way appeal.

Course-and-distance winner Strike and recently beaten favourite Havana Blue are others to consider in this traditional all-grey contest.

FIRST FOLIO (E/W)

14:35 NEWBURY

Great Acclaim has been knocking firmly on the door this season and connections appear to have found another good opportunity for him. The smaller field should play to his strengths, although a mark of 101 leaves little room for error.

Preference is therefore for Addison Grey, who has a similar profile having collected several placed finishes without managing to get his head in front this season.

The crucial difference could be at the weights and, with Addison Grey looking more favourably treated, he gets the nod to finally convert his consistency into victory.

14:55 RIPON

With 20 runners set to go to post for this fiercely competitive handicap, strong confidence is difficult, but two runners make appeal at potentially bigger prices.

Roberto Caro was last seen at this venue when finishing fourth in a large-field handicap over course and distance. He returns from a lower mark and a repeat of that performance could easily see him involved in the finish once again.

Former course-and-distance winner Vince L'Amour is another operating from an attractive rating. He went close when finishing second last time and arrives in sufficient form to suggest another bold showing is on the cards.

Fellow Tim Easterby runner Mister Sox also enters calculations, while Roach Power and Educating Rita shouldn't be dismissed.

ROBERTO CARO (E/W) VINCE L'AMOUR (E/W)

15:10 NEWBURY

Never So Brave has proved an expensive horse to follow this season. Well fancied on each of his four starts, he has failed to deliver on expectations and, although undoubtedly talented, it's difficult to be confident about the current market leader.

Course-and-distance winner Extremely Zain endured a luckless passage when hampered in the closing stages of a strong Ascot handicap last time. He has shaped as though deserving a chance at this level, although whether this represents too significant a rise in grade remains to be seen.

Preference is for Godolphin's Symbol Of Honour, who finally returned to winning ways last time. That success could have restored some confidence and, having rediscovered the winning habit, he looks capable of following up.

SYMBOL OF HONOUR (E/W)

15:25 RIPON

Aramram returns to handicap company after competing at the highest level when last seen and, although this represents a significant drop in grade, the weight he is required to carry makes life considerably tougher.

Course-and-distance winners Dark Cloud Rising and Lord Roxby command respect given their strong records at Ripon, but an interesting alternative comes in the shape of Khafiz.

The relatively lightly raced gelding has somewhat slipped under the radar and hasn't been far away in two starts since joining Roger Fell. With fewer miles on the clock than many of his rivals, there could still be further improvement to come and this may prove the ideal opportunity for him to register a first handicap success.

KHAFIZ (E/W)

15:42 NEWBURY

A race of this nature is never easy to assess, particularly with so many runners making their racecourse debuts.

Ed Walker sent out a two-year-old winner for the same connections earlier in the week and his yard appears to be operating in good form. With racecourse experience potentially proving valuable, a tentative vote goes to Mister Whippy.

He should have learnt plenty from his debut and can be expected to take a step forward with that experience behind him.

Mosheer looks the obvious danger, while those searching for one at a bigger price could consider Silent Force, who represents powerful connections and may be capable of outrunning his odds.
