TV TIPS (SATURDAY)

Action from Ascot, Newmarket and Redcar headlines a competitive lineup on ITV this Saturday, and we preview every contest right here. 13:00 NEWMARKET

Normally in a two-year-old contest it would be wiser to search for value, especially when the current market favourite is priced at around 4/5 and is already preparing for his seventh career start.

However, Night In Vegas is difficult to oppose. He produced an excellent performance to win a competitive contest at Doncaster last time and this looks a considerably easier assignment. Although there is little value in his current price, he clearly sets the standard and looks the one they all have to beat.

The unbeaten Choreography is an interesting contender and remains open to improvement, although a sizeable step forward will be required to give the favourite something to worry about.

Of the remainder, A Bear Affair and Zigazig Ah look the most obvious contenders to get involved.

NIGHT IN VEGAS (WIN)

13:15 ASCOT

After filling the runner-up spot in the Commonwealth Cup trial here at Ascot, Midnight Tango brings some strong form into this contest. However, there is enough evidence to suggest this longer seven-furlong trip isn't ideal. Back over her preferred six furlongs she would be a serious contender, but she is difficult to side with under these conditions.

Breckenbrough is another who ticks plenty of boxes, although the likely quicker ground presents a major concern. Softer conditions would significantly enhance her claims, but the forecast surface is enough to look elsewhere.

Preference is for former course winner So Regal. She may have finished in midfield on her latest appearance, but she wasn't beaten far in what looked a particularly competitive contest.

This represents an easier assignment and, returning to a venue where she has already tasted success, she looks capable of getting back to winning ways.

SO REGAL (WIN)

13:35 NEWMARKET

Just like the opening race at Newmarket, this could be another contest dominated by the favourite.

Blue Bolt arrives unbeaten this season and is seeking a sixth consecutive victory. She is the standout contender in this seven-runner field and, with limited each-way opportunities elsewhere, it is difficult to justify taking her on.

Irish raider City Of Memphis has enjoyed an excellent campaign in her own right, but another step forward will be required if she is to seriously trouble Andrew Balding's charge.

Moon Target looks best of the remainder and would be the one most likely to chase the favourite home.

Blue Bolt has done very little wrong this season and is taken to extend her winning sequence.

BLUE BOLT (WIN)

13:50 ASCOT

Finishing sixth of 26 in the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot represents an excellent piece of form and, on that evidence, Heavenly Heather looks markedly overpriced.

Her subsequent performances have been something of a mixed bag, but returning to Ascot could help spark a revival and she makes plenty of each-way appeal at the likely odds.

Shagraan won this race last season and indicated he was returning to form when runner-up in a Group 3 at Newbury last time. Clive Cox's runner clearly enjoys this venue and looks the one to beat as he bids to retain his crown.

Tuco Salamanca is another course-and-distance winner who has been in excellent form in handicap company this season. He deserves his opportunity at this level, although competing off level weights presents a much tougher test.

The improving filly Fluorescence and fellow last-time-out winner Air Force One also warrant respect, while it would be foolish to completely ignore Regional after a relatively light campaign in 2026.

Shagraan gets the vote, with Heavenly Heather looking the most interesting option at a bigger price.

SHAGRAAN (WIN) HEAVENLY HEATHER (E/W)

14:10 NEWMARKET

Ernst Blofeld went close when runner-up at Doncaster last time and dropping back to 1m4f looks a positive move.

The additional 5lb claimed by Harry Vigors is another obvious advantage, with the talented young rider helping to ease the burden at the weights. With eight runners currently declared, Ernst Blofeld looks a solid each-way proposition.

Market leader Evanesco is clearly talented, but his overall consistency remains a concern. Add the burden of top weight into the equation and there appears enough reason to take him on at the likely prices.

Fellow Amo Racing representative Tycoon is another worth considering. He isn't the most prolific winner but has put together a string of solid performances and should once again be there or thereabouts.

The same can be said for Blue Hercules, who also deserves a place on the shortlist.

Preference, however, is for Ernst Blofeld, who looks to have enough in his favour to make the frame at the very least.

ERNST BLOFELD (E/W)

14:25 ASCOT

Although just six runners are set to go to post for this Group 3 contest, this is arguably one of the hardest races to call on Saturday's card, with a case to be made for the majority of the field.

Last-time-out winner Plage De Havre proved himself capable of progressing beyond handicap company when landing a Listed contest and now arrives seeking a third consecutive victory. This demands another step forward, but he has certainly earned his opportunity at Group level.

Tenability and Al Aasy also arrive following victories and both boast previous course-and-distance success.

Of that pair, Al Aasy possesses arguably the strongest form, although at the age of nine there has to be a question over how long he can maintain his current level. He would also prefer a little more ease underfoot.

Tenability, meanwhile, has come up short on several previous attempts in Group company. He is clearly talented enough to compete at this level but now needs to prove he can deliver against this calibre of opposition.

The Godolphin-owned pair By The Book and Royal Power add further strength to the race.

Royal Power was last seen finishing fourth behind Calandagan at Meydan and that form commands plenty of respect. However, having been absent since March, his fitness has to be taken on trust following a break of almost 200 days.

By The Book has been knocking firmly on the door with successive runner-up finishes and is yet to taste victory in five starts this year. Despite that frustrating sequence, another bold showing looks likely and this could finally be the day he returns to the winner's enclosure.

It's a tentative selection in a wide-open contest and certainly a race to approach with caution.

BY THE BOOK (WIN)

15:00 ASCOT

Another ultra-competitive Ascot contest where caution is advised.

Current market leader Division deserves his place near the head of the betting, but the fact he remains without a victory from five starts this season is enough to raise concerns. He should be there or thereabouts once again, although at around 9/4 he makes limited appeal from a betting perspective.

Hidden Force won his opening two starts before finishing third in Group 3 company at Newmarket last time. He remains open to plenty of improvement, but dropping to six furlongs for the first time presents a new question and he will need to prove he possesses the necessary speed for this trip.

At a much bigger price, Sayidah Dariyan makes more appeal.

She has threatened to win on several occasions this season without getting her head in front, but her fourth in last year's Group 1 Commonwealth Cup over this course and distance is particularly eye-catching.

A repeat of that performance would give her every chance of outrunning her current odds and she looks a solid each-way option.

SAYIDAH DARIYAN (E/W) 15:20 REDCAR

Satellite Of Love produced an excellent effort when pushing Night In Vegas (runs earlier today) all the way at Doncaster last time and that form sets a strong standard in this contest.

He ultimately had to settle for second on that occasion, but there was plenty to like about the performance and a repeat of that effort should give him every chance of going one better here.

Last-time-out winners Myesme and Thames Waterman arrive in good form and both warrant respect. However, the pair will need to find further improvement if they are to extend their respective winning sequences in this stronger contest.

Elsewhere, Baddaddan could fare considerably better than his current odds suggest and shouldn't be completely overlooked at a bigger price.

Satellite Of Love brings the strongest form into the race and is taken to deservedly return to the winner's enclosure.

SATELLITE OF LOVE (WIN)

15:35 ASCOT

The fiercely competitive Challenge Cup awaits, where the three-year-old contingent dominate the betting.

Thunder Call has progressed throughout 2026 and deserves his position at the head of the market. William Haggas's runner could potentially prove to be a Group-level performer hiding in handicap company and looks the one to beat.

However, with 18 runners set to line up, searching for each-way value at bigger prices looks the more appealing approach.

Three runners in particular make the shortlist.

Great Acclaim probably deserves to get his head in front after a number of near misses this season and boasts an excellent record over course and distance, having finished in the first four on four of his five previous attempts. He races from a workable mark and, if producing his best, should be capable of getting involved.

River King has the advantage of a relatively light campaign, having made just four starts in 2026. He should still have plenty left in the tank and went close in a competitive Doncaster handicap when last seen. A similar performance would put him firmly in the mix.

Two Tribes is also worth forgiving for a disappointing effort at Ayr last month, with that performance simply too bad to be true.

Prior to that, he finished just three lengths behind the aforementioned Thunder Call despite conceding a stone in weight. The pair meet on much more favourable terms this time and that significant swing gives Two Tribes every chance of getting much closer and potentially reversing the form.

Thunder Call may prove the class act in the field, but in such a competitive handicap the value lies with the three each-way selections.

GREAT ACCLAIM (E/W) RIVER KING (E/W) TWO TRIBES (E/W) 15:55 REDCAR

Saturday's live televised action concludes with this prestigious Listed contest, where Audience appears to have plenty in his favour.

His recent string of placed efforts have all come in Group company and, now dropping back to Listed level, this represents a considerably easier assignment. A repeat of any of those performances should put him firmly in the mix and he looks to have an excellent opportunity to return to winning ways.

Witness Stand has also managed to hit the frame at a higher level this season and is clearly capable on his day. However, his overall form has been something of a mixed bag and that inconsistency is enough to look elsewhere on this occasion.

Elarak looks the biggest danger. He went agonisingly close at Royal Ascot earlier in the campaign and has continued to run with credit since, maintaining an excellent run of top-three finishes. Another bold showing looks likely and he should once again be there or thereabouts.

It may be a slightly ambitious approach, but Audience and Elarak look the two most likely to fight out the finish and we're backing the pair to fill the first two places in either order.
