TV TIPS (SUNDAY)

ITV's Sunday Series returns with seven races at 'Flat HQ' Newmarket with three additional races over in Ireland at Naas. 15:45 NEWMARKET

The opening contest on ITV's Sunday Series is a Novice contest. Novice races are tricky to decipher at the best of times, let alone unraced novices. We've got six runners set to make their career debut, and if the current betting is anything to go by, then Godolphin's Treanmor should be hard to beat. Priced as the clear odds-on favourite, the son of Frankel is beautifully bred and looks the one to beat.

However, the Richard Spencer trained duo of Start Me Up and You Sexy Thing cannot be ignored, and if there were eight runners and therefore an extra place on offer, then you'd be tempted to look for each-way value.

Vlad is another you have to take seriously, and looks the most likely to topple the favourite.

TRANMOR (WIN)

It's always wiser to side with a horse with racecourse experience, especially in races of this nature; however Dawn Romance could be drastically overpriced. Making her debut, the well-bred filly hails from a yard who have a great record with their two-year-old's and she may do far better than many suspect. If you're looking for one at a much bigger price, then she isn't a forlorn hope.

Unlike the rest of her seven rivals, Lady Iman has already claimed some black type, having won a listed race at the Curragh when last seen. She deserves to be one of the more fancied runners, and despite the clear chances of former course and distance winner Simply Astounding, it's the Ger Lyons runner that gets the nod.

LADY IMAN (WIN)

Spirit Of Applause and Sanat are set to renew their rivalry after filling the top two spots at Nottingham last time out. This looks a tougher test and a place looks the best they can expect.

Reigning Profit is aiming to make it three wins in a row but the level of opposition looks far superior than those he's faced of late and with extra weight to carry now it'll be hard to claim another success.

The two that catch the eye both have previous course form, with Zarzyni claiming a place in a group race on his only start at this venue and the only course and distance winner in the lineup Spring Bloom.

It's hard to split the pair, so I'm siding with both with Spring Bloom, the each-way alternative.

ZARZYNI (WIN)

Whistlejacket and Babouche filled the first two places in last year's Group 1 Phoenix Stakes, but it's safe to say that, although he finished behind that day, Whistlejacket has improved since that performance and now looks the better of the two. The short-priced favourite hails from the powerhouse yard of Aidan O'Brien and will be hard to beat.

Despite the fact that Babouche has a victory over the current market leader, he's not the one I feel is the most likely to cause the biggest problems. Bodhi Bear showed a game attitude to win last month and should appreciate the extra furlong this time around. The form has been franked, and although further improvement is required could give the favourite something to think about.

As with the previous contest here at Newmarket, there's a duo worth supporting. Five-year-old Waiting All Night has a fantastic record at Newmarket's July Course, and you'd arguably be more confident if this contest was being held at this venue's other course, but he wasn't miles behind when last seen and can improve upon that effort this time around.

The other one to side with is Mudamer. Geoffrey Harker's charge is now on a very attractive mark and is more than capable at this level. A solid third on seasonal return sets the groundwork for an even better performance.

Of the remainder, the very consistent Lyndon B could sneak into the money, as could former course and distance winner Lord Rapscallion, who's been rejuvenated on the all-weather.

With just the seven set to go to post it unfortunately leaves hunting down an each way option a lot tougher and the hand is forced to look for a winning selection.

It might be a tad boring but it's hard to make a case for any other runner aside from Magnum Force. His two-year-old form looks very strong and so long as he's progressed over the winter and is fit for his seasonal reappearance should come out on top.

Ostraka is a former Group 3 winner but has failed to produce anything like that form since.

Bucanero Fuerte has competed at the highest level but has failed to deliver in that company. Should be seen to better effect now in listed company, but may find one or two too good.

Gutsy Girl made the interesting move from Charlie Fellowes yard in the UK to come under the tutelage of Joseph O'Brien and may well do better than expected.

The consistent Big Gossey can never be ruled out and looks the most likely to follow the selection home.

MAGNUM FORCE (WIN)

Perhaps a tad unkind to the additional quartet, but it looks to be a race between the bottom weights Artisan Dancer and Sportingsilvermine. The pair performed well at Chester nine days ago, and despite neither taking home the victory, they showed enough to suggest a win in this is far from unrealistic.

Trainer James Owen has his horses firing, but the slight preference is for the William Buick ridden Artisan Dancer; however I couldn't put punters off backing the pair in a reverse forecast.

Of the remainder, Liari could show some improvement now back on the flat.

ARTISAN DANCER (WIN)

17:45 NEWMARKET

Sixtygeesbaby has done very little wrong in three career starts so far, and now making their handicap debut looks the clear and obvious choice. The form of his two victories looks solid, and although this is a tougher test, he should be up to the task.

At bigger odds, Dark Cloud Rising went well over this course and distance last time out, and Richard Fahey's Columnist should appreciate a drop back to six furlongs and this firmer ground.

SIXTYGEESBABY (WIN)

18:15 NEWMARKET

Trainer John Gosden has his horses starting to fire, and this is obviously a major factor in the support for Mutaawid. He was unlucky when finishing fifth at Goodwood, and more can be expected this time around, but there's a slight fear that his mark is perhaps too high and he may need to see his rating drop to be more of a certainty.

As such, a chance is taken with former course victor Bopedro to finish in the top two as a possible each-way alternative.

BOPEDRO (E/W)

Take A Breath was a convincing victor at Doncaster and aims to build upon that performance. She's been upped 5lbs in the weights, but that might not be enough to stop her from claiming back-to-back victories. That being said, this is a much tougher test compared to the race she won, so it's not a given.

At better odds, handicap debutant Magna Grecia Star will relish this step up in trip and should make the frame.

Fellow handicap newcomer She's The Duchess is another for any shortlist, as is Saariselka.
