TODAY'S TIPS (THURSDAY)

Alan Morris pinpoints two runners worth following this Thursday as he selects runners from Hamilton and Nottingham.

11:30 NOTTINGHAM

A Hands N Heels race and it often pays to focus on prominent racers as hold-up performers can struggle to change gears under inexperienced riders. Volendam fits the bill here having broken his maiden tag recently and will enjoy the return to a mile here. Rusheen Boy’s 6lb rise looks steep for a two-runner race win and the trip is a query. Mbappe has had a break and may not be ready to strike from deep here.

VOLENDAM (WIN) 21:00 HAMILTON

Ten-time course and distance winner Iris Dancer looks difficult to oppose at first glance, having dropped considerably in the handicap whilst being in good form just like her yard, and re-united with recent winning jockey Rowan Scott. There is a question mark over fast ground though and I wonder if she can still reach last year’s best form. My intuition suggests we take her on with Sherlock who is unexposed as a sprinter and his stamina should put him in good stead over Hamilton’s 6f.
