Despite the showpiece Grand National taking place yesterday the ITV cameras take in more action this time on the level with live racing from Musselburgh and Leopardstown and Rory Paddock previews every race. 15:45 MUSSELBURGH
A Karl Burke debutant always warrants respect and Penny Arcade is no exception, but it’s hard to ignore the visual impression Adonius made on debut. A dominant 7-length success over this course and distance marked him out as a useful prospect.
He concedes weight all round now but with natural improvement likely, he can follow up.
ADONIUS (WIN)
15:55 LEOPARDSTOWN
The opening Group contest on the card sees Aidan O’Brien responsible for a significant portion of the field, and several of his runners make strong appeal. Trojan Warrior is unbeaten and shaped with plenty of promise on debut; with expected improvement, he looks capable of making his presence felt.
Flushing Meadows appears the stable’s first string with Ryan Moore aboard and brings solid form to the table.
Of the remainder, Iron Lilly and Geryon look the most credible challengers.
TROJAN WARRIOR (E/W)
16:15 MUSSELBURGH
An extremely open contest where cases can be made across the field. Supreme Clarets failed to score in five juvenile starts but hinted at ability and now returns from a yard in decent early-season form. Improvement at three could see him outrun his odds.
Suddenly I See, a previous course winner, and Blues And Royals, from the Michael Bell yard, both look likely to be involved.
SUPREME CLARETS (E/W)
16:25 LEOPARDSTOWN
Black Caviar Gold, a previous Group 3 winner, sets a solid standard and looks to have bigger targets ahead, including a potential Guineas tilt. She arrives in good form and represents a yard enjoying a productive spell.
Unbeaten pair Blanc De Blanc and Myflower are interesting at bigger prices, but True Love, with Ryan Moore booked, could pose the biggest threat.
BLACK CAVIAR GOLD (WIN)
16:45 MUSSELBURGH
Bellarchi rewarded supporters at big odds last time but faces a stiffer task here. Preference is for Geo, now making her debut for the Jim Goldie yard. She has shown enough ability in previous runs to suggest she can be competitive at this level, and if fit on her return, she could surprise.
GEO (E/W)
16:55 LEOPARDSTOWN
Pierre Bonnard sets the standard having won his last three starts and, as a leading Epsom Derby contender, is expected to justify favouritism. This represents another step forward, but he looks the one to beat.
Christmas Day appeals as the main danger, while South Island could offer some value at larger odds.
PIERRE BONNARD (WIN)

For those seeking each-way value, Impartiality stands out as a consistent performer who often goes well fresh and has winning form on seasonal reappearance.
James McHenry is another to note after a strong runner-up effort in last season’s Cambridgeshire and should be race-fit following recent all-weather runs.
At the head of the market, Sea Force and Noche Clasica both command respect.

Ryan Moore’s booking on Cape Cod is notable, with the colt carrying top weight but looking potentially well ahead of his mark. A winner on his final juvenile start, he could have Group-level ability lurking in handicap company.
Extravagant and the Oisin Murphy-ridden Madbadanaddangerous rate as the main dangers.
CAPE COD (WIN)
17:45 MUSSELBURGH
Say What You See shaped well when third in a stronger race at Doncaster and, with that run under his belt, should strip fitter here. The drop in grade is an obvious positive.
At bigger odds, L’Eagle Aid could outperform market expectations.
Velvet Whisper, a course and distance winner, and recent all-weather scorer Ludo’s Landing are others to consider.

L’EAGLE AID (E/W)

Abduction has a wealth of experience at Musselburgh and, while still a maiden at the track, boasts a strong record of placed efforts. Now on a favourable mark, he looks capable of another competitive showing.
Sea Suite arrives in winning form and could follow up, while the consistent Cargin Bhui should also be in the mix.
Maldevious shaped better than expected recently and could offer value, alongside They All Know Me who should be fully tuned up after recent runs.
ABDUCTION (E/W)
18:45 MUSSELBURGH
Emerald Harmony made an encouraging start for Paul Midgley when finishing second at Newcastle and a return to turf could bring further improvement in a wide-open contest.
Montezuma, another last-time-out runner-up, is an obvious contender, while course specialists Zarzyni and Vince L’Amour cannot be dismissed at bigger odds.
Northern Spirit also merits attention after a strong third in a competitive Doncaster race.
