We head into day two of York's premier meeting and we tackle the first five races shown live on ITV. 13:50 YORK
America Queen couldn't of done it any better last time out at Haydock. Ryan Moore booking is a big appeal as well. I'm just not sure what she beat at Haydock that day and the form hasn't really been tested yet.
Staya another one from a breeze up sale has shown good bits and pieces of form and I imagine she will make her presence felt having won a listed race at Sandown and a runner up in a group 3 race at Ascot.
A fair chunk of these horses are taking a big step up in grade here so its very difficult to gauge there form.
The one horse who probably has the strongest form. Is Royal Fixation. Yes she is a short price currently and I wouldn't be surprised if she drifts slightly with Ryan Moore horse will no doubt be popular pick and shorten.
Royal Fixation was the only horse to get near Venetian Sun at Newmarket in a group 2 at Newmarket and that to me is the strongest piece of form by miles. I don't think many if any horses in this race would get near the unbeaten Venetian Sun. Yes she is currently a short price but I firmly believe Shes a pretty strong cert for this race. Trainer (Ed Walker) won this race last year as well so knows a good horse for this race.
ROYAL FIXATION (WIN)

As is usual with a sales race, often a handful of horses are favoured by the weight structure, and that is certainly the case here.
Tadej, Anthelia and Raakeb are those that fit the bill.
Tadej, a group race winner in France last time, is also a course and distance winner, looks impossible to keep out of the frame. He’s drawn low, which seems to be favourable, but so are his biggest rivals, which brings in Anthelia.
She was a game winner of one of these sales races at Newbury last time, but does have to prove herself at six furlongs.
That leaves Raakeb, a typically tough Hannon two year old, who has been busy this season. He will be more suited to a fast run 6 furlongs than his latest start, and could be good value to run into a place at least.
RAAKEB (E/W) (Matt Polley) 15:00 YORK The Clipper Handicap is up next, I love these mile handicaps throughout the season and the usual suspects turn up here again. Bullet point finished best of these at Royal Ascot when 2nd whilst winning on his side (unfavoured) and backing that up with another silver medal since. He is drawn low, has plenty of early speed and will likely be the one they all have to pass in order to win.
Sisyphean another likely pace setter is 5lbs better off for his neck defeat over C&D last month but he does come here off the back of a poorer effort and will need to bounce back.
My selection would be Apiarist, he came from out of the clouds at Galway last time, they should go plenty quick enough in front and he can stay on strongly in the closing stages.
APIARIST (E/W) (Toby Darby) 15:35 YORK
Qilin Queen won a Group Two in France, but she has a lot to find with Minnie Hauk based on their respective showings in the Epsom Oaks. Estrange looks a classy sort but her last performance left a bit to be desired. Her sole defeat came on this type of ground, which combined with the 9lbs she must concede, could be a tough ask. Minnie Huak is a dual Oaks winner and despite connections seemingly being out of form, she should emulate the late Snowfall and make it three Oaks’ victories on the bounce.
MINNIE HAUK (WIN) (Kieran McHugh) 16:10 YORK Those hoping for a royal winner couldn't have a better chance as trainers John Gosden and William Haggas send out runners who'll represent the prestigious purple, red, black, and gold silks of the royal family.
The pair, Rainbows Edge and Aeolian have fantastic chances and look set to be near the head of the betting. Of the duo Rainbows Edge would be the one to side with after her close second in a listed race here last time out. The only thing that could put pay to her chances is the 0lbs additional weight she has to carry over the majority of her rivals.
Of the younger contenders Dermot Weld's Alice Monet has progressed with each run this season but will need to take a marked step up now racing at this level but could sneak into the money.
Crepe Suzette is another three-year-old who's been a model of consistency this term and could do far better than her odds might suggest.
Ranbows Edge has the form in the book and if she handles the step up in trip looks the one to beat.
RAINBOWS EDGE (WIN)
(Rory Paddock)
