The second day of York's Ebor meeting, where the girls take centre stage with another Group 1 contest and plenty of competitive action to get stuck into this Thursday. 13:50 YORK
Libertango was narrowly denied in a Group 2 at Newmarket last time out and aims to go one better here. She's likely to be on the premises once again, although this arguably represents a more competitive assignment. There are no guarantees she'll return to the winner's enclosure, but she certainly warrants a place on any shortlist.
Irish raiders Star Of State and Livenka have done very little wrong during their maiden campaigns and cannot be ruled out. However, both will need to find further improvement if they're to come out on top in a race of this nature.
After bagging the opener on day one, trainer Geoff Oldroyd will be hoping to repeat the feat with unbeaten In The Black. She could easily outrun her odds, although a place may be the best she can hope for in this company. Even so, she could be worth considering for punters searching for an each-way play at a big price.
The one we've pinpointed is Andrew Balding's Moonrise, who finished second in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot before returning to the same venue and landing a Group 3 last time out. She still showed signs of greenness that day, suggesting there should be plenty more improvement to come, and she looks generously priced given what she's already achieved.

Sun Goddess was a convincing winner of the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh and a repeat of that performance should see her go very close once again. The weight allowance she receives from the colts only strengthens her claims and she looks the one they all have to beat.
French raider Tokaido has done very little wrong to date and deserves his chance at this level, although there are questions surrounding the strength of the races he's won.
The Clive Cox and Kevin Ryan-trained quintet of Satellite Of Love, Pride Of Toledo, Kodiak Breeze, Battle Fever and Secret Society are all capable of running well at bigger prices, while Thebesthasyettocome looks a colt firmly on the upgrade and has already attracted early market support.
However, Sun Goddess sets the standard and is taken to follow up her Curragh success.
SUN GODDESS (WIN)

Last year's winner Bullet Point returns in an attempt to retain his crown and does so from an attractive mark. He arrives in good form after finishing second last time out and, although handicap debutant Centigrade looks a horse firmly on the upgrade, it's the William Haggas runner who looks the one they all have to beat.
Cerulean Bay has been knocking on the door throughout the season without managing to get his head in front. He filled the runner-up spot in this race 12 months ago, but appears well and truly in the handicapper's grip now, making this a much tougher assignment.
Despite the burden of top weight, Point Lynas boasts an excellent record at York, with one victory and five placed efforts from six course starts. The course-and-distance winner clearly thrives on the Knavesmire and could overcome his hefty weight to hit the frame once again.
Fellow seven-year-old Checkandchallenge also has a solid record at York. Although yet to win here, he's made the frame on several occasions and produced another encouraging course effort 40 days ago. At a bigger price, he could easily outrun his odds.

The ladies take centre stage in this Group 1 contest, where Kalpana aims to continue her exceptional season following victory in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes. This looks a slightly easier assignment on paper and she's more than capable of adding another top-level success to her already impressive CV.
Former race winner Minnie Hauk represents the all-conquering Ballydoyle operation, but consistency has been an issue and she's proven difficult to predict. She's more than capable of making the frame on her best form, although others make greater appeal.
Tattycoram arrives in search of a hat-trick and deserves her place in the line-up following two impressive victories. However, this represents a considerable rise in grade and she may lack the class required to come out on top.
Johanna Walsh is perhaps the most interesting challenger following what's already been an excellent three-year-old campaign. Seemingly improving with each appearance, she could have more to offer and looks the biggest threat to the current favourite.
Kalpana remains the one to beat, while Johanna Walsh can chase her home.

16:10 YORK
One of the hardest races to call across the entire festival and one we'd advise punters to approach with a degree of caution.
The lightly raced A La Prochaine appears to be progressing nicely and should go close, as should former course winner Rhapsody and ultra-consistent Irish raider Vauntingly. All three look capable of being there or thereabouts when it matters.
Market leader Morrophore has won her last two starts in convincing fashion and looks more than capable at this level. However, it's stablemate Without Prejudice who makes greater appeal at the prices.
She's raced just once, but that debut effort was extremely eye-catching and suggested there could be plenty more to come. Admittedly, she has to prove she can build on that performance in much deeper company, but John Gosden's apparent second string looks an intriguing proposition and could take a significant step forward.
In an incredibly open contest, she's worth taking a chance on at each-way odds.
