Alan Morris gives his weekly thoughts as he pinpoints aa duo of recent runners you need to keep an eye on. EDWARD SEXTON (G & J Moore)

Edward Sexton has had three quick flat runs over a 7f and a mile to give the handicapper a Prescott-like headache in pinning him down to a mark as further will undoubtedly suit better. They will also have to ignore some good bumper form for last season in measuring his achievements and potential so far. It’s likely his season will be tailored around his owner David Dunsdon’s ability to ride in 10-12f+ Amateur handicaps before trying his luck over hurdles this Winter. He did cock his jaw and run out at Punchestown but hopefully that was a one-off.

MR MAHLER (J Parkinson & S Smith)

Mr Mahler has had a slow-burning progression to date but is finding his feet over fences now for a yard that conduct their careers patiently and had a respectable comeback in a reasonable handicap at Southwell last week. This followed a breakthrough second at Catterick in January after a few novicey mistakes. With a mark of only 84 and a novice chase status he should be able to hit the right notes over at least 2m4f and further. His half-brother Catchintsavo is showing signs of promise. CURRENT HOTLIST:
