Alan Morris looks back at last weeks racing and finds two recent runners you simply cannot ignore going forward. Here's who's made our hotlist. IMPERIAL RULE (L QUINLAN)

Imperial Rule made a pleasing comeback for new connections at Sedgefield after nearly a year off this week and the lightly-raced 8yo gelding has scope for improving further from a mark of 98 despite being a triple winner. Imperial Rule had every chance coming to the last despite a huge drift in the market and should come on for the run. 2m 3f plus around Catterick and Sedgefield seems ideal at present. A gamble went badly astray on chase debutant Earlofbrackenstown in the same race but he did a lot wrong through keenness and a few errors and is also one to consider next time.

BENEFIT BEN (A NICOL)

Benefit Ben made a satisfactory and sympathetic reappearance over a trip short of his best without headgear at Sedgefield this week and was unable to get to the front-running role that saw him win twice last season. The 7yo should improve for the run and a step up in trip and also has scope for another try over fences as there was credit in his two attempts so far, including over 3m 1f that stretched him. He is related to chase winners and has some PTP form.
