Alan Morris looks back at the most recent runners and picks out a pair you cannot ignore. MAGDALAYNA (O SANGSTER)

Magdalayna slowly found her feet for Hughie Morrison and the 3yo filly won in November over a mile at Kempton before being transferred to Ollie Sangster. She is bred to get further but faded late on at Southwell over a mile this week and runs as if even 7f might be worth a try. Off a rating of only 61 she looks to have plenty of room for improvement and we can be open-minded about trip as she matures.

MAXIMUM VELOCITY (N TINKLER)

Maximum Velocity didn’t hit the line hard at Newcastle over 7f this week but showed improved form on his first handicap run by finishing 3rd of 12. The 3yo gelding got warm and pulled hard but hung in there til very late. After only four runs he hopefully can settle and 6/7f should reward us in time. By Dandy Man he should have more speed than some of his relatives.
