TV TIPS (FRIDAY)

Rory Paddock returns to preview all the best action on ITV with racing from Newmarket and York this Friday. 13:50 NEWMARKET

Decade Of Time and Heraldry renew their rivalry after finishing first and second respectively at Windsor back in May. Both now make their handicap debuts and, with Heraldry receiving a much more favourable pull at the weights, the John and Thady Gosden-trained colt could be capable of reversing that previous form.

William Haggas saddles Princling, who produced a respectable effort at Royal Ascot where he was forced to race wide throughout and can be forgiven for not finishing closer. This smaller field should suit far better and he looks capable of taking a sizeable step forward.

Fellow Royal Ascot runner Evanesco is another who should appreciate the likely pace of this contest and has the ability to get involved, although the burden of top weight may leave him vulnerable to less exposed rivals.

Despite the small field, this is far from straightforward and a chance is taken on Princling and Heraldry filling the first two places.

14:10 YORK

A fiercely competitive handicap in which a genuine case can be made for a significant proportion of the field.

Andesite heads the market after finishing runner-up on his last two starts and arrives in excellent heart. The former course winner is clearly thriving but continues to edge up the handicap and, in a contest of this depth, looks fairly priced rather than outstanding value.

Lir Speciale has also been knocking firmly on the door, including over this course and distance. Like Andesite, the seven-year-old has been admirably consistent without managing to get his head in front this season and may once again find one or two proving too strong.

Our Havana narrowly defeated Lir Speciale over this course and distance last time out and has been raised just 3lb for that success. That victory came after an absence of almost eight months and he should strip much fitter for the outing, making him another to consider.

Two further course and distance winners worth noting are Quest For Fun and Angel Hunter. Quest For Fun has progressed with each run this season and produced another solid effort when third here last time. This is a stronger race but another bold showing looks likely.

Angel Hunter has mixed good efforts with quieter performances during 2026, although a return to his last winning mark makes him particularly interesting at his current odds.

One final runner to note is the Ed Bethell-trained Wild Nature, who was well supported when disappointing over this course last time. He's better than that performance suggests and is taken to bounce back with a much-improved display.

Royal Ascot performers Libertango and Senorita Bonita return to action after excellent efforts at the Royal Meeting and their form sets the standard here. However, it's difficult to look beyond the Albany Stakes winner Libertango.

George Boughey and Billy Loughnane continue to enjoy a superb season and can combine for another Group race success. Libertango has already shown herself capable of performing on the biggest stage and remains open to further improvement.

Irish challenger Alwaysanangel and Karl Burke's Etonnante appeal most of the remainder and look the pair most likely to capitalise should the principals fail to fire.

Pole Star finished third behind Goblet Of Fire over this course earlier in the season but meets that rival on considerably better terms this time around. For those searching for an each-way alternative, Charlie Johnston's runner makes plenty of appeal.

Wine Dark Sea has done little wrong this season, winning both starts in 2026, but this represents another rise in class and trip. While further improvement is certainly possible, others make slightly greater appeal at the prices.

Oneforthegutter boasts an excellent record in this contest, having won and placed in the previous two renewals. Although recent form has been underwhelming, it would be dangerous to dismiss such a proven performer entirely. Another placing is well within reach if returning to something like his best.

Godolphin invariably target winners at Newmarket and last-time-out scorer Valedictory looks to hold outstanding claims. A modest rise in the weights appears fair for his latest success and, with William Buick taking the ride, he looks the one they all have to beat.

15:35 NEWMARKET

The feature race of the afternoon sees the fillies take centre stage in an intriguing renewal of the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes.

Recent Royal Ascot winners Precise and Blue Bolt dominate the betting and, on current form, look a class apart from the remainder of the field.

Of the pair, it's difficult to oppose the four-time Group 1 winner Precise, who appears primed to add a fifth top-level success to her already outstanding record.

Blue Bolt has done very little wrong throughout her career and fully deserves her chance at this level, although she'll need to find another step forward to lower the colours of the Ballydoyle star.

Jancis finished just behind Blue Bolt at Royal Ascot and, should either of the market leaders fail to perform, she looks the most likely to capitalise.

PRECISE (WIN) PRECISE – BLUE BOLT (STRAIGHT FCAST)
